Phuket — On January 13, 2026, Mr. Nirat Pongsitthaworn, Governor of Phuket, together with Vice Admiral Weerudom Muangjin, Commander of the Third Naval Area Command and Director of the Third Maritime Enforcement Coordinating Center, participated in activities to install mooring buoys, deploy fish-egg barrier buoys to protect coral reefs, and conduct a beach clean-up at Phlap Phla Beach, Racha Yai Island, Rawai Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District, Phuket Province.

The event was attended by Mr. Phairoj Srilamul, District Chief of Mueang Phuket, along with government officials and representatives from relevant agencies, who joined the activities in full support.

The initiative was organized following approval from the Third Maritime Enforcement Coordinating Center. The Phuket Provincial Maritime Enforcement Coordinating Center and the Phuket Maritime Security Control Center, in collaboration with the Racha Islands Protected Area Management Center and related agencies, carried out the installation of a total of 35 mooring buoys in front of Phlap Phla Beach, Racha Yai Island. In addition, three fish-egg barrier buoy lines were deployed to protect coral reefs, covering a total distance of more than 1,200 meters. All operations were successfully completed.

The objectives of the activities were to prevent damage to coral reefs caused by boat anchoring, promote the sustainable use of marine resources, and raise public awareness of marine environmental conservation, while reinforcing Phuket’s image as a world-class marine tourism destination.

On this occasion, the Governor of Phuket, together with the Commander of the Third Naval Area Command and representatives from relevant agencies, jointly released the mooring buoys into the sea as a gesture of encouragement to officers and operational teams involved in the mission.
