Phuket, Thailand – [June 13, 2026] – The “Laguna Phuket Marathon Presented by Supersports 2026″ proudly steps into its second decade, kicking off the excitement today, June 13, 2026, at Laguna Grove, Laguna Phuket. The event gathers an army of over 7,000 runners—including national-level athletes, celebrities, and elite runners from China who crossed continents to co-create this marathon phenomenon and experience the beauty of a route praised as one of the most scenic in the Asian region.
Once again, Phuket reinforces the strong collaboration between the public and private sectors, led by Phuket Province, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Laguna Phuket, Phuket Marathon, Supersports, and numerous network partners. Together, they are driving Phuket’s sustainable growth into a world-class “Sport Event Destination.”
General Adul Chuthong, Vice Governor of Phuket Province, stated at the press conference: “The 20th anniversary of the Laguna Phuket Marathon is a clear reflection of Phuket’s potential to host international events. It helps expand Phuket’s image from a purely leisure destination to an ‘Active Lifestyle Destination’ that seamlessly blends sports, wellness, and quality tourism. Furthermore, it tangibly stimulates the economy and distributes income to local communities.”

A major highlight of this year’s competition is the introduction of the “Run Sunset – Run Sunrise” concept, giving runners the chance to experience Phuket’s charm at two distinct times of the day. The event kicks off in the evening atmosphere of Saturday, June 13, with the “Sunset Run.” This includes the 5KM distance, taking runners through local villages, the 10KM along the scenic coastal road accompanied by sunset views, and the debut of the brand-new “2KM Junior Run” for youth of all ages (up to 17 years old), held entirely within the highly secure Laguna area.
Following that, early Sunday morning on June 14 brings the “Sunrise Run” for Half Marathon (21.0975 KM) and Full Marathon (42.195 KM) runners. The route heads towards Ban Don, passing through Thalang to Nai Yang Beach, and loops back via Layan Beach, allowing runners to fully immerse themselves in the scenery of tropical forests, rubber plantations, and Phuket’s cultural landmarks. Additionally, the event continues to prioritize senior runners by maintaining the “70 years and over” age category, truly reflecting the concept of “Inclusive Sport” for all ages.
Catering to the lifestyle of modern runners who value community, this year’s event launched the “Running Club Affiliate Program” to offer benefits and add vibrancy to the running community, especially for the younger generation and Gen Z. During race week, free side activities like a Shake-out Run and Beach Plogging were organized for runners to enjoy together. Participating clubs also contributed to society, with 5-10% of their registration fees being donated to the Children First Fund (CFF) to support nutritional needs for over 400 underprivileged children in Phuket.
Moreover, the organizers provided free booth spaces for local entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products and food, reinforcing their commitment to growing sustainably alongside the local community.
During the event, an official donation handover ceremony was also held. A total of over 40,000 THB, generously contributed by runners through the registration platform, was presented to Laguna Phuket to be officially donated to the Children First Fund (CFF).

Mr. Paul Wilson, Managing Director of Laguna Phuket, affirmed their readiness as the host, stating: “One of the key reasons the Laguna Phuket Marathon has remained strong and popular for 20 years is the strength of Laguna Phuket as an integrated destination that offers the most complete hospitality experience. For this year, Laguna Phuket has elevated our readiness even further to accommodate runners, as well as their families, friends, supporters, and spectators. We want everyone to feel that the Laguna Phuket Marathon is a special occasion that people can truly enjoy together.”
Mr. Roman Floesser, CEO of the Laguna Phuket Marathon 2026 Presented by Supersports, added: “This year marks another significant step for us in elevating the running event standard to an international platform where everyone can participate, whether professional or amateur runners. We are confident that ‘Run Sunsets’ and ‘Run Sunrises’ will create unforgettable impressions for everyone. Highlighting the role of Running Clubs is a crucial step because the running scene today is driven by community power, with our ultimate goal being to make this an annual event that people always want to return to.”
