Phuket – On September 15, 2024, at 5:00 a.m. at Saphan Hin Park, Mr. Norasak Suksomboon, Phuket Vice Governor, along with Mr. Suphot Wongjaruswee, Representative of the Minister of Culture, Ms. Thitnath Sombatsiri, Assistant Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Dr. Kirati Kitmanawat, President of Airports of Thailand (Public) Co., Ltd., Mr. Lek Tantiwongpaisan, Chairman of the Kusoldharm Foundation Phuket, Mr. Piraphan Nunphakdee, Managing Director of Animation International (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Pol. Col. Prateuang Phonmana, Superintendent of Phuket City Police Station, and Mr. Phatiyut Chaisawang, Acting Managing Director of MCOT Public Company Limited, jointly opened the “Doraemon Run 2024 Thailand by MCOT”. The event was organized by MCOT in collaboration with Phuket Province, Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization, Phuket City Municipality, Rassada Subdistrict Municipality, Phuket Provincial Police, Kusoldharm Foundation, and the local Phuket community.
The event brought together “Doraemon fan runners” of all ages, from children under 12 to adults aged 60 and up, with race distances of 5 kilometers and 10 kilometers. The race started at Saphan Hin Park, allowing participants to enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery, breathe in the fresh morning air, and experience the famous “Sino-Portuguese” architecture of Phuket. Runners were also greeted by “Doraemon and friends”, who helped them warm up and take photos with a giant 10-meter Doraemon balloon. The event also featured a cultural performance titled “Sattakinnara Bhusapatte” by Phuket Rajabhat University.
Mr. Phatiyut Chaisawang, Acting Managing Director of MCOT Public Company Limited, and the event organizer, commented on the event: “Doraemon Run 2024 Thailand by MCOT” at Saphan Hin Park, Phuket, marks the ‘4th event’ of the year. This grand event has always received tremendous support from Doraemon fans and runners alike. We sincerely thank all the participants who quickly registered for every race. There is still one more event to close out 2024: “Doraemon Run 2024 Thailand by MCOT, Chiang Mai Night Safari” in Chiang Mai on Saturday, November 23.
“Doraemon Run 2024 Thailand by MCOT” will conclude the year’s events with a “Night Run”, offering special themed running shirts and medals featuring Doraemon. The final event will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Chiang Mai Night Safari, Chiang Mai.
