Phuket – At 7:00 a.m. on December 6, 2024, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen proceeded to Beyond Kata Hotel, Phuket, to preside over the awards ceremony for the winners of the ’36th Phuket King’s Cup Regatta’.
During the event, ‘Her Majesty the Queen’ participated in the regatta as part of ‘Team Vayu’ in the IRC Zero class, sailing boat number THA72 at Kata Beach, Karon subdistrict, Phuket.
The ’36th Phuket King’s Cup Regatta’, held from November 30 to December 6, 2024, aims to honor the legacy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, a highly skilled and internationally acclaimed sailor. It aligns with the royal aspirations of His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn to preserve and develop Thailand’s maritime traditions.
This prestigious event underscores Thailand’s capability to host world-class sailing competitions and seeks to attract elite events like the ’52 Super Series’. It also provides an opportunity for Thai sailors to enhance their skills on international platforms, supports the development of Thailand’s national youth sailing team, and promotes growth in the sailing industry and marine tourism. The regatta plays a significant role in stimulating the nation’s economy both directly and indirectly.
