Phuket – On July 12, 2024, at the activity zone of Robinson Lifestyle Chalong Shopping Center, Mr. Samran Jindapon, Mayor of Chalong Subdistrict, presided over the press conference announcing the upcoming PHUKET HOTEL’S FOOD & BEVERAGE EXCELLENCE COMPETITION 2025, organized by the Phuket Thai Chefs Association in collaboration with the Andaman Food and Beverage Association, to be held from August 1–3, 2025, at Robinson Lifestyle Chalong.

Joining the press event were Mr. Thanawat Supchodpreeda, President of the Phuket Thai Chefs Association; Mr. Thanadet Photanon, President of the Andaman Beverage Association; and major sponsors, including Mr. Thames Kraitas, Mayor of Rawai Subdistrict; Mr. Walapon Nadon, Mayor of Karon Subdistrict; representatives from Robinson Lifestyle Chalong, event sponsors, committee members, association members, and distinguished guests.

Prior to the press conference, there were live cooking and drink-mixing demonstrations featuring Spicy Northern Thai Sausage (Sai Ua) made from seabass and beverages, presented by professional chefs and bartenders from both associations.

The PHUKET HOTEL’S FOOD & BEVERAGE EXCELLENCE COMPETITION 2025 aims to provide a platform for hotel staff, students, and young professionals to compete in culinary and beverage challenges, enhancing their skills and contributing to the development of Phuket’s tourism industry.

From a culinary perspective, the Phuket Thai Chefs Association recognizes the island’s rich cultural and culinary diversity. The competition will emphasize sustainability by encouraging the use of local ingredients. Meanwhile, the Andaman Food and Beverage Association will host beverage service competitions including cocktail, wine, and coffee challenges—designed to simulate real-world professional applications. There are also plans to make this an annual signature event for Phuket.

Highlight activities include:

  • Culinary (by Phuket Thai Chefs Association):

– Live cooking shows and tastings by professional chefs from renowned hotels and restaurants

– Fine Dining competition

– Peranakan Phuket Food Modern Challenge

– Western-style Chicken Dish for Youth

– Sustainable Local Ingredient Challenge

– The exciting “Som Tum Bangtan” (Thai Papaya Salad Showdown) competition

  • Beverage (by Andaman Food and Beverage Association):

– Speed Mixing Cocktail Competition

– Flair Bartending Art Performance

– Barista & Latte Art Competition

Prizes include cash awards, trophies, medals, and certificates:

– First Prize: 7,000 THB

– First Runner-up: 5,000 THB

– Second Runner-up: 3,000 THB

The event will also feature product booths and opportunities for direct buyer-seller interactions over the three days. The associations plan to make this an annual event to help build a skilled tourism workforce and elevate Phuket as a global culinary destination.
