Phuket, Thailand – September 5, 2025 – Phuket officially opened the “Phuket Lobster Street – Phuket Lobster Festival 2025” with a grand celebration honoring the island’s world-renowned ‘Seven-Colored Lobster’, a newly registered Geographical Indication (GI) product and a symbol of local pride.

The opening ceremony, held at Queen Sirikit 72nd Birthday Park (Dragon Park), Phuket City, was presided over by Mr. Suwit Phunsiam, Deputy Governor of Phuket, with welcoming remarks from Mr. Prayut Rattanawaran, Phuket Provincial Fisheries Officer. The event was also attended by distinguished guests from government agencies, local administrations, private sector representatives, media, and members of the public.

Running from September 5–7, 2025, the festival is jointly organized by Phuket Province, the Phuket Provincial Fisheries Office, and local communities. It aims to showcase the “Seven-Colored Lobster Route” as a unique highlight of Phuket’s tourism and culinary culture, strengthening the island’s position as the “Lobster Capital of Thailand.”

Festival highlights include:

  • Lobster Street Food Zone – featuring a variety of innovative dishes made with the Seven-Colored Lobster.
  • Cultural Performances – celebrating Phuket’s heritage and vibrant coastal lifestyle.
  • GI Community Market – showcasing local treasures such as Phuket Pineapple, Phuket Pearl, Phuket Som-Kwai, and the Seven-Colored Lobster.
  • Workshops & Exhibitions – offering insights into the lobster route and sustainable marine tourism.

The ‘Seven-Colored Lobster’, known for its exquisite taste, tender texture, and striking natural colors, has become an emblem of Phuket’s marine identity. Its GI certification not only reinforces its uniqueness but also enhances economic value for local fishing communities.
