Phuket – September 24, 2025, 6:00 PM at Royal Phuket City Hotel: Mr. Sophon Suwannarat, Governor of Phuket, attended the celebration of the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 37th Anniversary of the Phuket Chinese-Thai Association, which also marked the installation of the association’s president for the 2025–2026 term. Distinguished guests included Mr. Wang Zhijian, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Songkhla; Dr. Chiewchan Siwakhunakon, outgoing president (2024–2025); representatives from government agencies, the private sector, and the Chinese-Thai community in Phuket, who gathered in great numbers.
Over the past 76 years, the Communist Party of China has led the nation to remarkable achievements across all dimensions. Today, China has grown into the world’s second-largest economy, lifted more than 850 million people out of poverty, and increased its citizens’ average life expectancy to over 78 years. Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China continues its pursuit of building a modern socialist country and advancing toward its Second Centenary Goal.

The China–Thailand relationship has grown even stronger, bound by ties of neighborhood, kinship, and partnership that stretch back for generations. Last year, President Xi Jinping visited Thailand and announced the building of a China–Thailand community of shared future for stability, prosperity, and sustainability, reaffirming the timeless phrase: “China and Thailand are not strangers, but brothers.”
The Phuket Chinese-Thai Association has long served as a key overseas Chinese organization in southern Thailand, playing a vital role in social and economic development, as well as charitable and public welfare activities that have greatly benefited Phuket. The association also serves as a bridge fostering strong and lasting China–Thailand relations.

On this occasion, a handover ceremony was held. Dr. Chiewchan Siwakhunakon, president for the 2024–2025 term, presented the association’s flag to Mr. Patipan Chaikridatikarn, President of the Hakka Association of Phuket, who formally assumed office as President of the Phuket Chinese-Thai Association for the 2025–2026 term.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Patipan expressed his commitment to uniting all members in the spirit of solidarity and mutual support, advancing the association with stability, and strengthening cooperation with all sectors in Phuket. He emphasized his vision to help build a brighter future for both nations while carrying forward the enduring friendship between China and Thailand.
