Phuket, October 6, 2025 – Phuket City Municipality organized the annual Moon Festival Ceremony 2025 at the Chalermprakiat 72nd Anniversary Queen’s Park (Dragon Park). The event was presided over by Mr. Supachok La-ongpetch, Mayor of Phuket City Municipality, and attended by distinguished guests including Mr. Thanet Tantipiriyakit, President of the Phuket Tourist Association, Mr. Somsak Sophanon, President of Phuket Provincial Cultural Council, Mrs. Puangpongpaka Chaonwai, Phuket Provincial Cultural Officer, along with community leaders, residents, and visitors.

Mayor Supachok emphasized that the Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is a long-standing tradition cherished by Phuket’s Chinese community. Falling on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, which this year coincided with Monday, October 6, the festival symbolizes unity, love, and prosperity, reflecting the bonds of family and community. It is also an expression of gratitude to nature and the moon, revered as a symbol of beauty and the essence of life.

This year’s ceremony aligns with Phuket City Municipality’s cultural policy to preserve and promote local traditions, religious activities, and cultural diversity. It underscores Phuket’s unique identity as a “multicultural society”, where Thais, Muslims, and Thai-Chinese communities live together harmoniously in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.

The Moon Festival in Phuket thus stands as a symbol of solidarity, cultural pride, and the commitment of all ethnic and religious groups to safeguard the city’s heritage for future generations.
