Phuket, October 10, 2025 – The CSR Phuket Center, in collaboration with Wichit Municipality and more than 40 partner organizations, organized World Food Day 2025 at Sri Phuwanart Park, Wichit Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phuket. The event aimed to raise awareness about equal access to food, reduce disparities, and extend support to vulnerable groups in the community.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Saransak Srikruanet, Governor of Phuket, joined by Mrs. Rudeevan Srikruanet, President of the Phuket Red Cross Chapter; Mrs. Somphit Srikhamhaeng, Director of Social Development and Human Security of Phuket; Mrs. Virintra Papakityosaphat, President of CSR Phuket Center; and Mr. Kreetha Chotiwichphiphat, Mayor of Wichit Municipality. The event welcomed more than 500 participants, including government officials, business representatives, CSR Phuket Center networks, community volunteers, and local residents.

Speaking at the event, Governor Saransak emphasized that “Food is a basic human right. Everyone deserves access to safe and nutritious food. Today’s World Food Day reflects the collective commitment of all sectors to address food inequality. This effort aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Zero Hunger and Zero Food Waste, which serve as key pathways to building a sustainable and high-quality society.”
The program featured a variety of activities, including educational sessions on environment and nutrition, booths promoting healthy consumption, and the distribution of more than 10,000 cooked meals, drinks, snacks, and essential supplies to local residents and vulnerable groups in Wichit Subdistrict. Additional food packages were also delivered to 10 nearby communities such as Rassada, Kathu, Chalong, Talad Nuea, and Talad Yai through volunteer and municipal networks.

This initiative highlighted the collaborative spirit of government agencies, private sector, and civil society under the theme “A Sharing Society – Leaving No One Behind.” The event underscored Phuket’s ongoing efforts to strengthen food security and reduce social inequality in a sustainable manner.
World Food Day, marked annually on October 16 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), serves as a global reminder of the importance of sustainable food production, consumption, and access. Phuket has hosted this event for five consecutive years, continually expanding its multi-sectoral partnerships to drive social development and enhance the well-being of its people.
