Phuket, Thailand – November 9, 2025 – Mr. Prasop Reangngern, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, together with representatives from the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, the Phuket Art Association, and related local agencies, visited Phuket to inspect the progress of preparations for the Thailand Biennale, Phuket 2025 — an international contemporary art festival scheduled to take place from November 29, 2025 to April 30, 2026.
The event will span three districts across Phuket and aims to establish the island as the “International Center for Contemporary Art in the Region” while promoting the creative economy through the island’s unique cultural and natural landscapes.

During the field visit, the delegation reviewed several exhibition venues across Kathu and Mueang Phuket Districts, as well as over 20 community-linked locations. The inspection revealed satisfactory progress in infrastructure, site landscaping, and collaboration among local communities and private sector partners.
“The selection of participating artists has now been completed, with a total of 65 artists confirmed,” said Mr. Prasop Reangngern, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture.
“The lineup includes emerging contemporary artists, distinctive local talents from Phuket, and renowned international creators. Many are already in the process of constructing and installing site-specific works, ensuring visitors will experience art seamlessly integrated into the island’s cultural, architectural, and natural settings.”

Local authorities — including municipal organizations, community groups, private enterprises, and the tourism sector — have been working collaboratively to ensure the event’s readiness. Their efforts include preparing venues, coordinating public relations, and enhancing facilities for both domestic and international visitors. The collective goal is to deliver a high-quality, well-organized event that generates tangible benefits for Phuket’s local economy and creative industries.
The Thailand Biennale, Phuket 2025 represents a milestone opportunity to elevate Phuket’s image as a global destination for contemporary art and culture. Beyond showcasing artistic innovation, the event will celebrate creativity rooted in Thai identity, inspire the new generation of artists, and stimulate long-term tourism and local spending throughout its five-month duration.
The Biennale will officially open on November 29, 2025, and remain on view until April 30, 2026, featuring a wide range of art and cultural activities, exhibitions, and interactive programs across the island — inviting both Thai and international audiences to immerse themselves in the vibrant artistic spirit of Phuket.
