Phang Nga – On 28 January 2026, Vice Admiral Weerudom Muangjin, Commander of the Third Naval Area Command and Director of the Maritime Interests Protection Center, Region 3, together with Mrs. Sarisa Muangjin, President of the Third Naval Area Wives Association, presided over the opening ceremony of the “Young Love the Sea” activity at Phang Nga Naval Base, Third Naval Area Command, Lam Kaen Subdistrict, Thai Mueang District, Phang Nga Province.

Also in attendance were Rear Admiral Phongmit Narongkul, Commander of Phang Nga Naval Base, senior naval officers, staff officers, local administrative leaders, community leaders, and members of the Third Naval Area Wives Association, all of whom participated in the activity.

The event was organized in response to the royal initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, in her capacity as President of the Foundation for the Conservation of Coral Reefs and Marine Life of Thailand, with the objective of conserving coral reefs and marine life to ensure long-term sustainability. The activity also aimed to provide knowledge, raise awareness, and promote active participation among communities and youth in marine conservation, as well as to build cooperative networks for broader impact and public awareness.

The activity was supported by 16 public and private sector organizations, along with five local schools. Key activities included:

  • Educational exhibition tents
  • Exhibitions on the conservation of Thai marine life and rare species
  • Demonstrations on maritime disaster relief and assistance
  • Creative reuse of leftover materials to produce decorative items, contributing to the reduction of global warming
  • Release of sea turtles back into their natural habitat
  • Beach, underwater, and coastal waterway clean-up activities
  • Formation of human signage displaying the message “Young Love the Sea”
  • Visits to the Royal Thai Navy’s Sea Turtle Conservation Center

These activities collectively reflected a strong commitment to marine conservation through education, collaboration, and hands-on participation, reinforcing shared responsibility for protecting Thailand’s marine resources for future generations.
