Phuket – March 13, 2024 at 7.30 pm, Mr. Sermsak Pongpanit, Minister of Culture, presided over the opening of the historical drama performance “Thao Thepkrasattri – Thao Sri Sunthorn” for the year 2024 at the Thalang Victory Field (Baan Riang), Thepkrasattri Subdistrict, Thalang District, Phuket. Also in attendance were Mr. Sopon Suwannarat – Phuket Governor, Mr. Rewat Areerob – PPAO President, Mr. Norasak Suksumboon, Phuket Vice Governor, along with executive officers, council members, civil servants, and staff of Phuket Provincial Administration Organization, as well as honored guests, media representatives, and the general public.

Phuket Provincial Administration Organization (PPAO) has organized a spectacular light, sound, and historical drama performance portraying the heroic deeds of ‘Thao Thepkrasattri – Thao Sri Sunthorn’ from March 13th to 15th, 2024. The objective is to honor and commemorate the historical significance and the virtues of Thao Thepkrasattri – Thao Sri Sunthorn and the local people of Thalang who bravely sacrificed their lives to protect and defend Phuket. Their courageous actions have ensured the prosperity and well-being of future generations, allowing them to live in peace and happiness until this day.

From the historical event, where local people defended and preserved Thalang town from invasion during the Nine Armies’ Wars and emerged victorious on March 13th, 2328 B.E., since that significant period, March 13th of each year has been designated as Thalang Victory Day. In the year 2567 B.E. (2024), it marks the 239th anniversary of this event.

This year’s light, sound, and historical drama presentation is presenting through the concept ‘The Journey to Become Phuket.’ Within the event, there are activities showcasing local traditions, the sale of local products, Phuket’s specialties, and many other activities.
