Krabi – After 4 days that Southern Thai people had the opportunity to pay homage to the Lord Buddha’s Relics and the Supreme Patriarchs’ Relics that were temporality enshrinement at Mahathat Vajiramongkol Temple in Krabi province during March 15 – 18th, 2024, in order to commemorate the auspicious occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the King, coinciding with the 6th cycle or 72 years old on July 28th, 2024. There were over seven hundred thousand people participating in the homage for all 4 days.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Krabi Office, organized cultural performances including the lighting show “Bodh Gaya Illumination@Krabi”, to pay homage to the Lord Buddha Relics and the Supreme Patriarchs’ Relics every evening.

On the night of March 18th, a grand procession of “Khon” was organized, in addition to other Buddhist ceremonies.

In this regard, TAT Krabi Office estimated that, the presence of pilgrims paying homage to Relics of the Lord Buddha during this period has generated additional tourism revenue up to 2.68 billion baht.
