Phuket – On March 27, 2024, 6 pm, at the Phuket Merlin Hotel, Mr. Rewat Areerob, President of Phuket Provincial Administration Organization (PPAO), together with Mrs. Anchalee Vanich Tephabutra, President of the Phuket Art Association, welcomed artists from Phuket, other provinces, and foreign countries, as well as participants of the art auction event during the ‘Phuket International Contemporary Art Festival’ held from March 27 to March 30.
On that day, the Phuket Art Association opened an auction for paintings by artists from Phuket and Songkhla, totaling 11 paintings. The total auction revenue of 490,998 baht will be going to Phuket Art Association for future activities use.
The Phuket International Contemporary Art Festival featured 78 participating artists, including 43 from Phuket, 17 from other provinces, and 18 international artists.
Mrs. Anchalee stated that the festival organized by the association in collaboration with the PPAO and the International Artists Association of the Southern Region was aimed at introducing the Phuket Art Association and auctioning off paintings by Phuket and Songkhla artists, totaling 11 paintings.
“This event received significant interest and appreciation from art enthusiasts, as evidenced by some paintings fetching high bids of up to 110,000 baht. The proceeds from this event will be used by the association to drive Phuket towards becoming a city of art and culture, fostering creativity and beauty in the near future. We, Phuket Art Association are gratitude to all supporters, especially the artist community that collaboratively contributes to advancing Phuket,” Mrs. Anchalee added.
