Phuket/Bangkok – Thailand submitted a bid to host the Interpride event on July 11, 2024. The PRIDE Community nationwide selected the most prepared province to host the event from three candidates: Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Khon Kaen.
Phuket’s presentation was led by Mr. Sompol Sittivej (Vicky), Vice President of the Andaman Power Phuket Group; Mr. Somyot Pathan, President of the Old Town Phuket Community Tourism Enterprise; Mr. Bhummikitti Ruktaengam, President of the Sustainable Tourism Development Foundation; and the private sector network of Phuket. They were supported by Mr. Norasak Suksomboon, Deputy Governor of Phuket; Mr. Tiwat Sidorboub, Deputy Mayor of Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization; Mr. Saroj Angkanapilas, Mayor of Phuket City Municipality; Mr. Sanakorn Kiisin, Deputy Mayor of Patong Municipality; and Mrs. Virinthra Papakittyosawat, President of the Phuket Tourism Industry Council.
Phuket was selected as the province to represent Thailand in the bid to host the Interpride World Conference 2025. The final presentation will be held in Colombia in October 2024. If successful, Phuket will host over 1,000 LGBTQ+ leaders from around the world for the conference in 2025.
