Phuket – Mrs. Praphaphon Saeu, the incoming president of the Rotary Club of Phuket for the 2024-2025 term, announced a project organized by the Rotary Club. The club’s board has decided to initiate the “Marine Safety Pilot Project,” encouraging the donation of Marine Department grade life jackets to be given to fishermen and victims of marine accidents in Pak Phanang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Initially, the plan is to distribute 200 life jackets on July 27.
The club’s board members surveyed the area and acknowledged the needs and hardships of the local coastal fishermen in Pak Phanang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. It was identified that there is a significant need for quality life jackets for fishermen while at sea. Occasionally, fishing boats encounter accidents, such as sinking due to storms, causing high waves or storm surges, resulting in injuries, fatalities, and missing persons.
Therefore, the Rotary Club of Phuket established this project to support and promote the safety and welfare of the fishermen in the area. By providing them with life jackets, they can have initial safety measures and be better prepared for potential water-related accidents, reducing the risk of accidents at sea or in rivers.
For government agencies, local administrative organizations, businesses, and the general public interested in donating money to purchase Marine Department grade life jackets at 600 baht each or donating as they wish, please contact Khun Kai at 086-546-3553 or Khun Om at 095-616-2959. Donations can also be made to Krungsri Bank, account name: Rotary Club of Phuket, account number: 297-1-32497-0.
