Phuket – On August 3, 2024, members of the STRONG Anti-Corruption Club of Phuket, in collaboration with the Mangrove Resource Management Center of Phuket, organized a Big Cleaning Day project. The event, titled “Collecting Excess, Filling Voids,” aimed to collect trash and plant trees to revitalize coastal areas in honor of His Majesty the King’s 72nd birthday on July 28, 2024, and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s birthday on August 12, 2024. The event was inaugurated by Deputy Governor of Phuket, Colonel Adul Chuthong, with Ms. Napapach Setsubupha, President of the STRONG Anti-Corruption Club of Phuket, leading the youth, citizens, volunteers, and club members, along with ten partner organizations, in collecting trash and planting mangroves along the coastline of Kamlaithong Soi 1, Wichit Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phuket.

In the past, members of the STRONG Anti-Corruption Club of Phuket have been vigilant in preventing corruption related to natural resources and the environment. In 2022, the club conducted a survey of the mangrove forests and discovered a degraded area in Kamlaithong Soi 1, Wichit Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phuket Province. Since then, they have monitored and prevented further encroachment. By 2024, the Director of the Mangrove Resource Management Center of Phuket managed to reclaim the encroached forest area from the local residents, leading to the organization of today’s event.
