Phuket – December 25, 2024, The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with Grab Thailand, has launched a Car Wrap campaign in Phuket to promote Thailand’s branding and create awareness of the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year 2025.” This initiative utilizes car advertising on vehicles operating in Phuket, aiming to boost awareness of Thailand as it steps into 2025, the “Year of Tourism and Grand Sports Events.” The campaign seeks to stimulate year-round tourism and invite travelers from across the globe to experience the beauty of Thailand.
Mr. Nithee Seeprae, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, stated that as the government declares 2025 the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year,” TAT has partnered with Grab Thailand, a leading platform for ride-hailing and food delivery services. Together, they aim to promote sustainability and raise awareness of the campaign through car advertising on 30 vehicles operating in Phuket. This effort highlights local attractions and Thai festivals while building a positive tourism image for Phuket, a popular destination for both Thai and international tourists and a vital city driving the country’s economy.
Ms. Junsuda Thananitya-udom, Deputy Managing Director of Commercial and Marketing at Grab Thailand, noted that Grab has consistently supported TAT in promoting tourism, especially among international tourists who frequently use Grab for its convenience and safety standards. To welcome the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year 2025,” Grab is collaborating with TAT to roll out Car Wrap advertising, a highly effective method for generating widespread awareness. Grab is also committed to promoting tourism through event marketing and Grab Ads on both online and offline platforms.
In addition to the collaboration between TAT and Grab Thailand, TAT supports the Dragon Line electric bus project in Phuket’s Old Town. This initiative, under the partnership of the Sustainable Tourism Development Foundation and Phuket City Development Co., Ltd., aims to reduce CO2 emissions, particularly in the traffic-dense Old Town area. The Dragon Line electric buses serve 16 stops, including Luang Phor Road, Phuket Bus Terminal 1, and Wat Mongkol Nimit, operating daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM with a 15-minute frequency. The service is free of charge.
To further the campaign’s impact, TAT has extended its advertising efforts to electric buses (EV Bus Wraps) from December 2024 to February 2025. This initiative is part of promoting Phuket as a sustainable tourism destination and contributing to the city’s goal of achieving certification from the Global Sustainable Tourism Council by 2030.
