Phuket – On February 3, 2025, at the Peranakan Museum Intersection on Phuket Road, Talat Yai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phuket Province, Mr. Samawit Supanpai, Deputy Governor of Phuket, presided over the opening ceremony of the “Phuket Chinese New Year Festival (Duen Sam Ban Rao) 2025”. The event was attended by Mr. Saroj Angkanapilas, Mayor of Phuket City, along with heads of provincial government agencies, representatives from local administrative organizations, private sector leaders, local residents, and a large number of Thai and international tourists.
Mr. Saroj Angkanapilas, Mayor of Phuket City, stated that the “Phuket Chinese New Year Festival (Duen Sam Ban Rao) 2025” is a significant event aimed at promoting tourism, stimulating the local economy, and raising awareness of Phuket’s unique cultural identity. The festival highlights the rich heritage of the Chinese-Phuket community, which has been preserved for generations.
The event features a wide variety of activities, including: The “Phuket Festival 2025” parade, Cultural performances, Local food and product stalls and Various activities that showcase Phuket’s distinct cultural identity.
Additionally, Phuket Province aims to use this festival as a platform to further develop its status as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, leveraging its soft power to drive economic and tourism growth sustainably. The festival is expected to attract a significant number of domestic and international tourists, generating economic benefits and boosting local businesses.
