Phuket – On Friday, July 4, 2025, at 6:00 PM, at the 72nd Anniversary Queen Sirikit Park (Dragon Square) and the historic Sinlors Community on Dibuk Road, Mueang District, Phuket Province, Mr. Samawit Supanpai, Deputy Governor of Phuket, presided over the opening ceremony of “Sabai, Kebaya, Batik” – Andaman Retro 2025. The event was attended by Mrs. Ratchadaporn O-In, Director of the Phuket Office of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports; Ms. Siriwan Siharat, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Phuket Office; Mrs. Puangpaka Chaowai, Director of the Phuket Provincial Cultural Office; along with heads of government agencies and honored guests, who came together to celebrate and promote Phuket’s invaluable cultural heritage on the international stage.

This event aligned with Phuket Province’s development vision of becoming a “world-class marine tourism hub with a high quality of life, rich cultural identity, and sustainable development.” It emphasized quality tourism through the power of soft power in three key areas: architecture, cuisine, and attire—highlighting Phuket’s cultural uniqueness as a driver toward becoming a global cultural tourism destination.

The program featured a wide range of local identity–driven activities, including “Open House at Sinlors on Dibuk Road”, which invited attendees to explore the way of life within the community and learn the history of heritage homes. There were also cultural exhibitions and academic seminars on topics rooted in local traditions, such as: “Thai–Malay–Phuket Connections and the Preservation of the Ancient Tengho Fabric”, “Ancestral Surnames and the Chinese Diaspora in Phuket”

In addition, the event offered cultural performances, theatrical shows at Chu Teahouse, a traditional costume competition featuring Thai–Chinese–Malay themes, and a fashion show presented by professional models.
