Tyumen, Russia – The Phuket Tourist Association (PTA) is taking proactive steps into the Russian market with the “Phuket Roadshow to Russia” held in Tyumen on August 4, 2025. This marked the first time that the association and agencies from Thailand have organized a roadshow in this city. The event attracted overwhelming interest from local businesses and is considered a significant milestone in establishing a new market base for Phuket in Russia’s energy hub.
Tyumen is the center of Russia’s oil and natural gas industry, home to high-purchasing-power residents, and operates charter flights to Phuket during the winter season. This makes it one of the potential markets targeted by the PTA in its strategy to penetrate secondary cities in Russia.

The roadshow brought together 22 Phuket-based businesses, spanning hotels, tour operators, and health services. On the Russian side, over 50 travel companies and agents participated in ‘B2B matching’ sessions to discuss potential partnerships for the upcoming tourism season.
The event was funded by the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization (PPAO), which has consistently prioritized tourism development. Mr. Anupap Wechvanichsanong, Vice President of the PPAO, joined the trip as a government representative to promote collaboration between Phuket and Tyumen and expressed the PPAO’s commitment to supporting Phuket’s tourism sector in expanding into international markets.

“The Phuket Tourist Association is committed to continuously opening new markets, with our core mission being to position Phuket as a world-class destination. This visit to Tyumen is not just about numbers or negotiations — it’s about building long-term relationships with a new market,” said Mr. Karn Aekwanich, Secretary-General of the PTA.

The event showcased the latest updates on Phuket, trends among Russian tourists, and new services Phuket can offer during the winter season, such as wellness tourism, luxury hotels, and family packages. The lively atmosphere reflected the strong interest of Russian businesses, with many initiating preliminary partnership discussions with Phuket companies right at the event.
