Phuket – April 27, 2026 at Blue Elephant Phuket, the Phuket Provincial Office of Culture held a press conference for the project “Local Art, Phuket Way of Life: Advancing Creative Tourism.” The event also marked the launch of key learning hubs, tourist attractions, and leading artist houses across Phuket under the concept “Living in Harmony through Art.”
The initiative ถ่ายทอด (conveys) Phuket’s way of life, culture, and spirit through the artistic perspectives of local creators, bringing together artists from diverse disciplines. Their works reflect both local identity and contemporary issues, aiming to elevate arts, culture, and local wisdom into cultural assets that can be further developed into creative tourism and sustainable grassroots economic growth.

The press conference was attended by Mr. Adul Chutong, Vice Governor of Phuket; Ms. Supawadee Paipak, Director of Strategy and Cultural Surveillance Group and Acting Phuket Provincial Cultural Officer; Ms. Anchalee Vanich Teppabutra, President of the Phuket Art Association; Mr. Asawin Attatham, Vice Chairman of the Phuket Provincial Cultural Council; Mr. Prasit Sinsaopak, Deputy Mayor of Phuket City Municipality; along with artists from various artist houses across the province.
The event is scheduled to take place on May 15–16, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Saphan Hin Park, Phuket.
Ms. Supawadee stated that the project aligns with the Ministry of Culture’s policy to promote, preserve, and build upon the nation’s cultural capital, arts, and local wisdom. The goal is to utilize these assets creatively in ways that reflect each locality’s context while linking them to the development of creative tourism—an important mechanism for generating added value across economic, social, and cultural dimensions.

The Vice Governor added that Phuket places strong emphasis on ASEAN-level collaboration, as well as integrated cooperation among provinces, government agencies, the private sector, and local cultural associations. Media support is also vital in communicating and promoting Phuket’s cultural identity to the international stage, serving as a key driving force for the province.
Meanwhile, the President of the Phuket Art Association noted that Thailand Biennale Phuket 2025 marked a significant starting point in gaining international recognition for Phuket’s art scene. With strong collaboration across all sectors—both robust government support and active artist participation—Phuket has the potential to evolve into a future “Port City of Art” through clear strategic direction and collective effort.

This exhibition brings together artists from various groups, including Aree Phuket Art Gallery, Phuket Art Village, YorYing: A Small Art Space, Baan Thai Art Gallery, SepSil RinCha Art Café, as well as artists from the Baan Kuku Sufficiency Economy Art Learning Center and independent artists. The showcased works span multiple disciplines, including painting, sculpture, contemporary art, traditional crafts, eco-art using recycled materials, and live performance art.
The event will also feature a wide range of activities, such as open artist houses and learning spaces, exhibitions of art and local wisdom, creative workshops that allow visitors and tourists to engage closely with artists, and storytelling that reflects the lifestyle and cultural heritage of Phuket communities.

More than just an art exhibition, the event serves as a platform to connect art with community, society, and the environment in a tangible way—driving Phuket toward becoming a sustainable “City of Art and Culture.”
Visitors and art enthusiasts are warmly invited to experience the charm of Phuket’s local art and culture on May 15–16, 2026, at Saphan Hin, Phuket.
