Phuket – On May 7, 2026, Ms. Anchalee Vanich Tephabutra, President of the Phuket Art Association, together with her team, visited the site to monitor the progress of the “Ramakien” sculpture series, which will be installed underwater across an area of more than one rai. The project aims to create new habitats for coral reefs and marine life, while also helping reduce the impact of diving activities on natural coral reefs under the “RAYA Phuket – Underwater Art Museum” project, also known as the “Miracle of Underwater Sculptures,” located at Ao Siam, Racha Yai Island, Phuket.
The project’s major highlights are the sculptures of “Hanuman, Phra Ram, Tosakanth, and Suvannamaccha,” iconic characters from the Thai epic Ramakien, designed by renowned Thai artists, including:
- Worapop Tantinuntakul, artist of Phuket Biennale 2025, designer of the “Tosakanth” sculpture
- Samrit Phetkhong, advisor to the Phuket Art Association and a key figure in promoting contemporary art in the region, designer of “Phra Ram”
- Wisanupong Noonan, an independent contemporary artist, designer of “Suvannamaccha”
Meanwhile, the “Hanuman” sculpture, implemented by the Rotary Club, has already been successfully installed underwater.

As for the “Tosakanth” sculpture, it is currently being sculpted by Mr. Teerapong Phothisan, a Phuket-based artist specializing in sculpture, and is nearing completion before the project proceeds with the creation of the remaining pieces, including “Phra Ram” and “Suvannamaccha.”
The “Hanuman Nimmit Kaya” sculpture series is being carried out by the Rotary Club, while the “Ramakien” sculpture series is under the management of the Phuket Art Association. The project aims to promote marine conservation tourism alongside enhancing the cultural and artistic value of Phuket’s underwater world.
