Phuket – One of the key highlights of the Thailand Biennale, Phuket 2025 is a contemporary art exhibition space that invites visitors to explore the meaning of “Eternal Bliss” through the lens of world-class international art. The exhibition is currently on view at “Suuko Pavilion”, a landmark venue dedicated to connecting humanity, nature, and global transformation through more than 100 artworks by nationally recognized artists. Together, they interpret the concept of “everlasting happiness” through the perspectives of artists from Thailand’s four regions—among them, the “Andaman Pavilion.”

Somjai Phattisiri revealed that the Andaman artist collective has long been committed to creating works that promote environmental stewardship, reflecting the tangible impacts of environmental issues on human life—particularly those arising from plastic pollution. As large plastic waste degrades into increasingly smaller fragments, it eventually becomes nanoplastics. These nanoplastics contaminate water sources, are ingested by marine animals, and accumulate within their bodies. When humans consume these animals, nanoplastics continue to accumulate in the human body, posing a serious long-term threat to humanity.

As a result, the concept of the Andaman Pavilion brings together artworks by 11 Andaman-based artists, focusing on transforming marine debris into art or new products through ‘upcycling’. The works span painting, mixed media, and sculpture, aiming to raise public awareness of environmental conservation. These issues not only affect human health and daily life but also disrupt natural ecosystems and all living beings.

Highlighted sculpture and mixed-media works include:

  • Nano Andaman by Somjai Phattisiri / Somyot Khun-in
  • Andaman TV Channel by Phichitpong Thaweeta
  • Eternal Smile by Narongrit Jaitrong
  • Andaman Trap by Teerayut Boripan
  • Time by Teerawat Meekwan
  • Andaman Family by Supachai Sittichai
  • School of Batfish by Theerayut Jeenpracha
  • Heavenly Fish by Nuchree Tangkhian
  • Echoes from the Andaman by Sukij Sukrakanch
  • Andaman Pavilion Identity Presentation Board by Uthai Dulyakul

The Andaman artist collective warmly invites the public to experience the value of art showcased at Thailand Biennale, Phuket 2025 within the Four Regions Pavilion, and to join in sparking ideas for the preservation of nature and the marine environment together.
