Phuket: On August 14, 2024, at the Chao Fah Conference Room, 5th Floor, Phuket Provincial Hall, Mr. Sophon Suwannarat, Phuket Governor, along with Mr. Rewat Areerob, President of the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization, district chiefs from all three districts of Phuket, and relevant government officials, witnessed the donation of land for public use by three prominent families in Phuket: the Eakwanich, Kulwanich, and Saksritawee families.

The three families donated over 45 rai (approximately 18 acres) of land to Phuket Province to be used for public benefit, specifically for the construction of a road. The donated land covers a width of 12 meters and stretches approximately 6 kilometers along the Kathu-Srisoonthorn route. This route is located in Moo 4, Kathu Subdistrict, Kathu District, and Moo 3 and Moo 7, Srisoonthorn Subdistrict, Thalang District. It starts from the Kathu Mining Museum and passes through the Bang Neaw Dam Reservoir area.

Mr. Sophon Suwannarat, Phuket Governor, expressed gratitude on behalf of Phuket people for the families’ generous donation to help alleviate traffic congestion and support tourism in the area. The province has already tasked the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning with designing the construction project.

Following the donation, the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization and relevant agencies will proceed with the construction, development, and maintenance of the road. This road will serve as an alternative route for transportation, agricultural product transport, forest fire prevention, and reducing traffic congestion within Phuket. Additionally, it will help ease traffic for those traveling between Kathu District and Moo 7, Srisoonthorn Subdistrict, Thalang District, near Ban Manik.
