Gyeongju, South Korea – On March 20, 2025, Mr. Patanachai Singhavara, Director of the Southern Region Office of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Mr. Kittisak Supthavee, Secretary of the Phuket Shrine Association, and Associate Professor Dr. Kulda Petchvarun, Head of the Tourism Management Program, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, PSU Phuket, represented Thailand in receiving the “Asia Festival Awards” in the category of “Asia-Pacific Traditional (Folklore) Festival – A Valuable Festival with Distinctive Cultural Identity of the Asia-Pacific Region” for the “Phuket Vegetarian Festival”. The award is endorsed by the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) and was presented at the “2025 Pinnacle Awards and Asia Festival City Conference”, held from March 19–21, 2025, in Gyeongju, South Korea.

This recognition follows the Phuket Vegetarian Festival’s achievement in 2024, when it won the “Grand Pinnacle” award at the IFEA Awards 2024, the highest honor for festivals and events on an international level – marking the first time Thailand had ever received this prestigious award.
This year is even more special as it marks the 200th anniversary of the Kathu Shrine’s Vegetarian Festival, which also commemorates 200 years of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival. The celebration is scheduled to take place from October 21–29, 2025.

Get ready for an event grander and more spectacular than ever before! We invite everyone to join in the celebration and be part of Phuket’s living history!
