Phang Nga – Mr. Prarop Plaeng-ngan, Chief of Khao Lampi–Hat Thai Mueang National Park in Thai Mueang District, Phang Nga Province, revealed that Thai Mueang Beach, specifically the areas of Pang Beach and Plubplueng Beach, has been certified for international beach management under the ISO 13009:2015 standard — Tourism and related services – Requirements and recommendations for beach operation. This internationally recognized standard encompasses essential elements of beach management, including promoting and disseminating information to enhance tourist understanding, ensuring safety for beach-related and water activities, managing environmental impacts from tourism, and maintaining sustainable infrastructure readiness.

Thai Mueang Beach stretches over 13.6 kilometers within Khao Lampi–Hat Thai Mueang National Park. It is distinguished by rows of pine trees and a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for relaxation and nature conservation activities. The beach is also a regular nesting site for leatherback sea turtles. Most recently, the people of Phang Nga had another reason to celebrate, as the national park also received an ‘Excellent Level Green Park’ award.

The ISO 13009:2015 certification is the result of collaboration between the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), local authorities, and community members. The goal is to elevate the quality of Thailand’s beach destinations to meet international standards. Thai Mueang Beach has thus become a must-visit destination for travelers seeking a blend of natural beauty and professionally managed, sustainable tourism.
